Birthday Season Has Come to an End

We have four birthdays in our family between November 22 and December 19.  Justin, our oldest, turned 18 on Dec 7.  That's still kind of hard for me to believe.  Maybe that's because we have a 10 month old, too :)  Jim's birthday was easy.  We went to Julians (his sister & brother-in-law's restaurant) for dinner.  Then he gets his choice of yummy Mexican food.  And Hannah just turned 9.  Rebekah and she made panda bear cupcakes for her birthday dinner.

We have hit that short span when the kids ages are 3 years apart.  So, right now the kids are 0, 3, 6, 9, 12, 15 and 18.  But that only lasts til the end of next month.

For now, birthday season is over, which is nice.  Now life kind of winds down.  We don't celebrate Christmas or New Years.  So, this is a relaxing time for us.  Jim has time off and we can just enjoy family.  He was out on the trampoline with the little kids today and they had a blast.

And the other big news this week is that Arianah has started walking.  Hannah and Rebekah had her walking back and forth between them.  They did it a couple of days ago and have done it each day since.  Arianah thinks it's great fun for a while.  Before we know it, she'll be a toddler.

I Love Weddings

Yesterday, we had the privilege of attending a beautiful wedding. It was especially beautiful because the bride and groom were two young people who are faithfully following Yah and His way. They remained pure before marriage and they have submitted their life to Our Loving Father. It's awesome to see that there are still some young people who are following the narrow path. How blessed they will be in their life together. The whole wedding was a testimony for Him and I was so blessed by being there.

Getting Back to Normal

Well, the boxes are still driving me crazy, but not as bad. I actually got all of the boxes out of the school area last week. We enjoyed a fire in the fireplace for the first time. I even bought marshmallows so the kids could roast them. A special Sabbath treat is always nice. Most of the boxes are gone now. We have some more big pictures to hang. Then the rest is stuff I'm not quite sure what to do with or stuff that just needs to wait. Oh yeah, except for my bedroom. That still needs unpacking.

But either way, I'm getting unpacked enough that I feel like I can enjoy normal life again. Rebekah and I have been sewing and embroidering lately. She is working on a skirt. And we have been embroidering gifts for others. Next I'm going to start working on a blanket for Hannah, Lucas and Elijah.

Today it's cold and rainy. A good day to relax. It's also Jim's birthday, so he is home. We're sipping hot coffee and later we'll play some board games (after the kids get their chores done).

The kids couldn't resist playing outside when the rain was pouring down. Even Arianah wanted to go outside so we finally let her. She had a great time playing in the puddles with the other kids.

It's a Start

Rebekah says I need a blog. When I picked up my laptop today, there was a web page open to create a blogger account. I figured that was a hint, since she has been trying to get me to start a blog since she started hers. So, I created a blogger account. Hopefully, future blog posts will be more interesting than this, but at least it's a start.

I just finished school with the little ones for today. Rebekah is avoiding her school work. Jessikah is pretending to do hers (and she just came down to tell me that "School was created by the devil"). At least Justin does his homework like a good child should - although he is not a child since he just turned 18.

Lucas and Elijah are happily playing Duplo. Arianah keeps trying to get to my keyboard but we distracted her with a cookie. Now I need to start unpacking some more boxes. I think I will work on the pretty things in the great room today. I have to do something because I am so tired of having my stuff in boxes. We started packing over 6 months ago, so I am ready to be done with boxes. I have to get to work since our friends with almost as many kids as us (who is that crazy, anyway?) are coming over this afternoon. And, since Arianah required another cookie to divert her from my keyboard, I am ending this post now.
